

OurTurn2011 is a one day summit of young trade unionists, students, environmentalists, and social justice activists put on by the B.C. Federation of Labour November 2011 in Vancouver BC.











OurTurn2011is a one-day summit sponsored by the BCFED. Join with hundreds of other young activists, trade unionists, environmentalists, students and leaders who want to create a better workplaces, better communities and a better world.
How many people have registered?
Over 400 young activists have registered for the summit.

Any young person between 16 to 30 years old can attend. Community activists are welcome. You do not have to be a member of a union to attend - but seating priority is given to those who are members of unions affiliated to the B.C. Federation of Labour.

The OurTurn Summit should cover the issues that matter to you.
Whether you have a great success story you wish to share or just want to start a frank discussion about an issue many young activists are facing, we hope you’ll volunteer to lead an OurTurn World Cafe session at this year’s summit.
The sessions portion of the Summit is your chance to share your expertise and determine the topics for discussion with your fellow attendees. Interested attendees can volunteer to lead a session on a topic of their choosing.

1:45 pm Panel: Young Workers and Struggle
Young activists from the environmental, student and young workers movement will discuss opportunities to standing for fairness and justice in our workplaces, our communities and our world.

3:30 pm Workshop: Using Social and Other Online Tools to Grow Your Activism
This workshop will explore how to leverage social media – from Facebook and Twitter to advocacy emails and texting – to actually mobilize your members and the community.
4:30 pm Presentation: Occupy Vancouver
The Occupy Wall Street movement expresses an underlying desire for fairness and equality in the economy and our society. Occupy Vancouver participants will report on their progress and lessons they have learned in organizing young activists.
